Embers of Aotearoa

An original poem by Mira Corbova

Kiwi land of lush green,

magnificent, wild —

you live in me

as quiet warmth,

a vibrant memory,

the soft breeze

over a tranquil ocean,

where Tui sing

in harmony.

You held my breaking

and called it becoming.

Solitude became

a heavenly space.

The hand may let go,

but the soul remains.

Across distance, across time,

something stays alight —

Not lost, not forgotten,

a memory glowing

in the language of embers.

A place where I found love,

a land I love,

that shaped me,

taught me

the hidden curves of life

and the quiet pulse

of its spirit.

Its wildness still moves

through all that I am,

through the heart

I carry within.
