From the artist:

This artwork was created using French pigments, Australian clay, and linseed oil. For me, oil and water represent the tension between control and surrender — a contrast I experienced vividly while steering a traditional Tahitian outrigger canoe with a team of women. As we faced two massive waves, I stayed calm and pivoted the canoe just in time. We didn’t get crushed — we surfed. Once ashore, the full weight of what we had just gone through hit me. Grateful and shaken, I reached for my pigments. Humility is a meditative composition of circular forms that resemble both bubbles and pearls — a tribute to the sea, to Tahiti, and to the strength and presence of women navigating together. This bird’s-eye view of a peaceful shoreline helped restore calm to my inner ocean, allowing me to return to the water with renewed stillness — and above all, humility.
